On April 21, Pe’ula and Bet HaRoeh hosted a successful function with Cheryl Mandel to support the work of the One Family Fund. Cheryl, a bereaved mother, goes around the world telling the story of her son’s life, who fell in battle leading his unit into Shechem in April 2003 in an operation to capture three wanted terrorists responsible for the deaths of at least 30 and the injury of over 140 Israelis. She speaks with much positivity and dignity so that she can perpetuate the memory of her son and to raise awareness and much needed funds for the thousands of families in Israel whose lives have been devastated by war and terror. She epitomizes the resilient character that typifies Israelis. She has been brought to Australia by the One Family Fund, the largest organisation in Israel that supports terror victims.
